Conan The Barbarian #85 (1970)

$5.00

As the two men fly their giants hawks through the air, Conan explains to Zula the history of Belit and his relationship with her, and Zula tells Conan how he, as prince of the Zamballah tribe of Darfar, witnessed the slaughter of his people by Kushites. Taken as a slave, Zula was given to Shu-Onoru, a magician of the southern Stygian city of Kheshatta. Zula silently watched and learned. Eventually, Zula attempted to summon a demon with the knowledge he had gleaned, but his lack of experience caused the demon to attack, and it was only banished by Shu-Onoru, who, after placing Zula in the gladiator pits for a brief time, ended up selling him, which is how he ended up in the dungeon with Conan. He has vowed revenge on Shu-Onoru, and expects Conan to help.
